- Redness and fine capillaries
- Sun spots
- Dry, scaly spots

Who should definitely have PDT?
Anyone who has had sun spots “burnt off” by the doctorHow does PDT work?
PDT uses a photosensitising solution to selectively target abnormal or damaged skin cells. The solution is painted on your skin and left on for several hours to be properly absorbed. A bright light is then shone onto the treated skin for up to 20 minutes, activating the photosensitising solution in the damaged skin cells. A sunburn-like reaction occurs in the skin, eradicating the damaged tissue and the skin heals over the following 5-7 days. The treatment can be repeated up to three times, to produce optimal results and achieve maximum skin rejuvenation.

Does PDT hurt?
A burning sensation can be felt when the bright light is shone onto the skin. A cooling fan is used to relieve any discomfort. The skin can feel hot and swollen after the treatment ( like a sunburn ) and this can be relieved with anithistamines, a cool fan and soothing lotions. Are there any side effects of PDT?
Thousands of PDT treatments have been performed worldwide without significant complications. After PDT, you will be light and sun sensitive for 24 – 48 hours and your skin can take 5 to 7 days to heal completely. What can I expect from PDT?
After 2-3 treatments of PDT, you can expect your skin to be much smoother, more evenly coloured and for any small crusty lesions to disappear. Lines and wrinkles will soften and improvement in the appearance of your skin will continue for several months after your treatments.

How much does PDT cost?
