What machines do we use for laser hair removal?
We do NOT use IPL machines for laser hair removal as we find ‘lasers’ offer more effective results. We use the Candela Gentlelase an Alexandrite laser. Alexandrite lasers have been shown in numerous clinical trials to be the most effective lasers for hair removal.
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser travels through the skin to the hair follicle, attracted to the hair follicle by the pigment in the hair. This damages & weakens the hair follicle.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Our lasers use cryogen (freezing air) to cool the skin each time the laser pulses. This unique cooling allows us to use high laser energy without damaging the skin. Laser hair removal has been described as being similar to a small rubber band being flicked against your skin.
How long does laser hair removal take?
Most areas can be treated in 5 to 60 minutes.
Who performs the laser hair removal treatment?

How many laser hair removal treatments will it take?
This depends on the area being treated and can be influenced by sex, age and hormones, however studies show an average hair loss of approximately 80% after 6 – 8. Treatments are conducted 6 to 8 weeks apart.
Will the hair return?
For most people hair that does not grow back will not return after several treatments. It is possible for some individuals to develop some new hair in the treated area, after their treatment has been completed. If necessary a doctor will assess you to determine the cause of any re growth.

How to prepare for your Laser hair removal treatment
You need to either shave or nair (hair removal cream) over the area you want treated 2/3 days before you come in or you can clipper or trim the area on the day of the treatment.
This will assist in making the treatment less painful and more effective.
No sun, solarium or fake tan on the area 2 weeks before your treatment.
If you are in the sun within the 2 weeks before your treatment, superficial burning or pigmentation may occur.
If you want numbing cream (EMLA)
EMLA is used by a number of clients to help dull the feeling of the laser on the skin.
We recommend a consultation and a test patch before you decide whether you want numbing cream, the majority of clients do not require it.
Post treatment care
No sun 14 days after your treatment
Sun exposure in the 2 weeks after your treatment can result in pigmentation of the treated area.
Assisting the laser hair removal treatment
Exfoliating the treated area will help the dead hairs fall out. It can take 2 weeks for the hair to fall out completely and many clients find an exfoliating towel very helpful.
